Magic Minutes & Creative Quests

Magic Minutes

Add a little extra magic to your Teacher’s Trick Box folder.

Help build habits designed to maximise personal happiness, optimism and wellbeing as well as enhance learning and performance, just by maximising a few minutes here and there.

Use the strategies on the A5 teacher cards (suitable for all year groups) with the whole class and individuals to get the best from them and help them to get the best from themselves. Designed to motivate positive learning states in the here and now and provide focused time to develop specific strategies to increase happiness and wellbeing.

Moving Minutes: Exercises designed to give the brain a break and a boost by doing something physical.

Mellow Minutes: Activities to create calm and help re-focus the mind.

Mindset Minutes: Strategies to stimulate peak individual learning zones and develop metacognitive strategies.

Memory Minutes: Strategies to develop positive memories, increase personal happiness and optimism.

Mighty Minutes: Ideas to motivate individual and group wellbeing through contribution by doing a little something for others as part of a whole school team. (Link this to your Team Programme.)

Use the Magic Moments assembly to introduce the theme of ‘pausing’ before action and noticing little daily positives.

T-R-I-C-K-S + Creative Quests

T-R-I-C-K-S for KS1 and KS2 is a flexible, moving parts strategy designed to enhance creative and critical thinking processes in and outside the classroom, championing unique individual insights, interests and personal approaches to maximise free thinking ingenuity and engagement.

Introduce the themes alongside ‘Drew Makes Plans’ and the teacher A5 cards at KS1 and bring alive in the classroom.

For KS2 use the Creative T-R-I-C-K-S assembly to introduce the themes and the teacher A5 cards and then follow up with the KS2 Creative Quests.
The Creative Quests provide a practical opportunity to practise a wide range of skills developing divergent thinking, research and experimentation, goal setting and problem-solving.
