The Habit Wheel Support Programme

This Trick Box strategy aids support staff in helping individual children to break limiting habits and create motivating new ones to positively affect behaviour and choices.

The Habit Wheel enables children to understand their own particular programming around a habit in a simple child friendly way. There’s even a spinner to help children to select key habit elements to work on.

Use the Habit Wheel strategy, supporting visual aids and spinner alongside the Letter Box coaching model and year group tricks.

You can use the Habit Wheel approach in the wider school community to help children and staff to learn more about how their individual habits work and decide if they’d like to keep them or make some changes using their Trick Box tricks to help them.

“I used the Habit Wheel with a child who was anxious about P.E. lessons. We understood what was going on together and slowly made some changes. Now this child asks to do P.E.!”

“The Habit Wheel was very effective when working with a child who refused to come in to school at the gate, they come in happily now.”
